What FX are used in the making of the costumes?

We use many FX options ranging mostly from high end acrylics, stains, sealants, fabric and light spray paints to professional grade fabric safe blood FX and various gel FX to get the precise, accurate and desired effect on each costume. We are not responsible for any allergies or skin sensitivities to the costumes and we always recommend wearing undershirts for a comfortable, breathable fit.

What is the wait time to receive my costume?

*NEW for 2024…Over the years we tend to experience a very high order volume earlier and earlier with each passing season. Similar to the 2023 season…for the upcoming 2024 season we are going to try to accommodate as many orders and custom requests as possible as we will now be offering 2 large seasonal windows of new order availability. During these windows we anticipate the majority of the season’s orders to be placed as we will open up the vast majority of our website designs  to new orders and custom work during these specific dates (NOTE: some costumes such as our Living Dead lineup , Vs and Maniac characters and others will remain open and available ALL season long to ordering with the similar, slightly shorter projected production time frames.) This will allow us to service more orders more frequently throughout the year as we will then close off many products of our catalog website to ordering to address this new high volume of orders until the next window reopens. *Due to our volume we will no longer have ANY definitive individual set deadline dates available for ANY orders of ANY kind unless its discussed and agreed to by both parties in writing PRIOR to ordering.*

Orders placed on open, specific products that are now available year round from our website during our our shorert  LOW SEASON (November 6, 2023 thru Jan. 14th, 2024) require, on average, a 12-16 week (or sooner) production time. This time frame is an approximate estimate and NOT a guarantee due to high order volume even during this time frame. We always strive to accommodate semi-specific time frames but unless discussed PRIOR TO ORDERING please allow for the aforementioned production times. We, as always, will reach out via phone contact or email prior to shipping to confirm destination.

Orders placed during our our 2 new 2024 seasonal windows heading into our HIGH SEASON (1st larger window…Jan.15th thru Feb.15th, 2024 and 2nd window…April 1st, 2024 thru April 15th, 2024 ) require, on average, a 16-20 week production time. This time frame, again, is an approximate estimate and NOT a guarantee due to high order volume. We, as always, will reach out via phone contact or email prior to shipping to confirm destination.  The 1st larger window orders will BEGIN to ship late May early June and into the summer months. We will contact you during the process ONLY as needed and prior to shipping to confirm destination and product pics. The April window orders will BEGIN to ship late/ August and into September.

Prop orders,  now offered year round, have a significantly shorter production time at approximately a 6-8 week time frame. Ready to Ship items will have a 48-72 hr. turnaround to ship.

Custom work requests are always welcome and will require consultation to determine production time frames needed based on concept and detail.

***Please note: Once again, if work is needed at a specific time frame or needed earlier other than the stated production times please contact us prior to ordering. We do NOT offer refunds of ANY kind.***

* Based on previous seasons our current turn around time frames are anticipated estimates. In some instances your completion time could take longer (or shorter) than normal due to possible supply chain shortages and/or delays in materials. Additionally due to our our level of professional detail large multi-orders and/or custom work may require longer production times than stated regardless of season.

Prior to shipping, we will notify you via email and/or phone contact of the actual scheduled date and to re-confirm the shipping destination .

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept payments directly through Paypal or via Credit Card via PayPal processing as well as the Affirm financing platform. All sales are final as we do not offer refunds of any kind.

Affirm offers:

Rates from 0–36% APR. Payment options through Affirm are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders.

Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. CA residents: Loans by Affirm Loan Services, LLC are made or arranged pursuant to a California Finance Lenders Law license. For licenses and disclosures, see affirm.com/licenses. For example, a $800 purchase could be split into 12 monthly payments of $72.21 at 15% APR or 4 interest free payments of $200 every 2 weeks.

Can I wash my costume?

We recommend that you do NOT wash our distressed costumes unless specifically noted. If needed please disinfect your distressed costume with Lysol or Febreeze and hang / airdry to maintain the custom added detail and keep in its original condition. DCATX is not responsible for any damage due to misuse or  washing of your costume. View our costume care instructions included with your shipped costume for more details.

Can I request more detail or specifics to my costume?

Sure. Please contact us , specify in the notes section of the costume you are inquiring about or message us on Facebook with any specifics / questions PRIOR to ordering.

Can I use my costume in a film or short?

Absolutely! All we ask is that as a professional courtesy, if you use our work in any publicly displayed film or short, please credit Dark Creations ATX in your film and/or our IMBD pages. Thank You.

What are your shipping cost?

We offer FREE USPS/UPS shipping on all orders within the Continental United States (excludes Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico) . International shipping rates are calculated prior to ordering/shipping. We are unable to ship orders to Australia due to issues with customs. Please contact us or message us on Facebook with your location PRIOR to ordering and we will send you a quote.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final as we do not offer refunds of any kind due to the nature of our work. We custom make each piece so please consider your measurements and choices carefully before placing an order. We will email/contact you with pictures of your costume and re-confirmation of address prior to shipping. Please contact us or message us on Facebook with any questions PRIOR to ordering.

Where can I find the masks displayed with many of your costumes?

We network with many silicone and latex artists and design companies. Contact us or message us on Facebook and we would be happy to give you referrals for professional hockey masks, silicone, and latex mask/hood artists.

Do you offer discounts on your costumes?

Yes. Follow us on Facebook to be the first to hear about upcoming promotions, seasonal sales…and occasional product giveaways. Our annual costume and prop sale is traditionally scheduled within the winter/ early spring each year so stay tuned!

How often do you create new costumes?

YES! We will be releasing more Ready to Ship items into our Ready to Ship section for 2024. Stay tuned for many offerings (look for many fully custom costume and prop design “one-offs” ) to be added throughout the 2024 season. We are always adding NEW RELEASES and variants to our selection of original custom character costumes so be sure to follow us on Facebook to keep up to date on what we are working on next!
